I hear many in the general public criticize the fact that The Weather Channel has started to name Winter storms. Like the hurricane names, they follow the alphabet. Let's discuss the last three; Gemini, Hercules, and Ion. They couldn't have been named more appropriately. Gemini, the twins, dumped heavy snow in the North and tornadoes in the South in mid-December. Later that month Hercules, a strong storm, dumped a foot of snow over areas of densely populated areas. Now Ion, the first storm of 2014, is also forecasted to bring heavy snow. Following the snow is a polar air mass that will bring near record low temperatures to much of the nation. Isn't it Ions that give molecules polarity?
Just saying.
